The Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks had an early lead against the Dell Rapids Mudcats, but the Mudcats rallied late for a 14-9 victory on Sunday, June 21st in Humboldt.
Dell Rapids got single runs in the top of the second and third innings for a 2-0 lead. The Gamecocks scored four times in the bottom of the third and added another in the bottom of the fourth for a 5-2 advantage. Dell Rapids, however, rallied for three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game 5-5. They then exploded for nine runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 14-5. The Gamecocks did score four times in the bottom of the ninth, but the deficit was too large to overcome.
Jonah Rechtenbaugh had the hot bat with three hits and five RBIs. Devon Garry finished with three hits, two of them doubles, and an RBI. Broc Haldeman also had three hits with an RBI. Gunnar Alfson had a hit and two RBIs. Cam Quigley added a double. Matt Thorson, Adam Hentges, and Landry Knight all had one hit each.
