GARRETSON — West Central kept its foot on the gas Tuesday night in Garretson, rolling past the Blue Dragons in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17, 25-11. From the opening serve, the Trojans controlled the tempo with quick starts and steady pressure that forced Garretson to play from behind.
Set 1 — Trojans set the tone early
West Central jumped out fast, building a 4-1 lead and stretching it to 7-2. Garretson settled in and trimmed the gap to 13-9, but the Trojans answered with their best run of the set — turning a four-point edge into a 19-9 cushion. The Blue Dragons made one last push to get within 20-15, but West Central stayed composed down the stretch, closing it out at 25-17.
Set 2 — West Central breaks it open mid-set
The second set started as a back-and-forth battle early, with the teams even at 2-2 and 4-4. West Central edged in front 6-5, then began to separate with a steady climb to 11-8 and 14-10. From there, the Trojans kept stacking points, pushing the lead to 17-12 and 20-15 before finishing another 25-17 win to take a 2-0 match lead.
Set 3 — Trojans close the door
West Central wasted no time putting the match away in the third. The Trojans led 3-1, then withstood a brief Garretson push to take control at 10-6. Once West Central reached 15-7, the set tilted decisively. The Trojans continued to widen the gap to 19-8, then sprinted to the finish at 25-11 to complete the sweep.
