West Central Softball Holds off Dell Rapids to Remain Unbeaten

The West Central Trojans held off a rally by Dell Rapids to remain unbeaten.  The Trojans gave up their first runs of the season but took the win 5-4 on Saturday, April 28th.

Emillee Stofferahn had an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.  With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the second inning, Hanna Raethz delivered a clutch double driving home all three runners for a 4-0 lead.  Stofferahn scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third, and after three innings, West Central lead 5-0.

Dell Rapids picked up a little momentum in the top of the fourth inning.  The Quarriers got a two-run home run to cut the lead to 5-2.  They scored two more runs in the top of the fifth, one on a wild pitch and one on a sacrifice bunt, to cut the lead to 5-4.  The Trojan pitching staff and defense stopped the rally there.  The Quarriers did not get a base runner in the final two innings of the game.

Stofferahn had two hits and an RBI.  Izzi Parsons and Sophie Rolfson both had two singles each.  Raethz had a double and three RBIs. Caitlyn Hoff, Kaylee Olson, and Ayla Kramer all had one hit each.  Stofferahn pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing four runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.  Hoff pitched 2 2/3 innings without allowing a hit or walk with four strikeouts.
