The West Central Trojan softball team earned a spot in the state tournament with a 17-0 win in three innings over the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, May 26th. Linzie Hoff and Emery Hartman combined to hold the Titans without a hit in the victory.
The Trojans scored five times in the bottom of the first inning. They would add seven more runs in the second, and then ended the game on the 15-run rule with five runs in the bottom of the third. West Central had a total of 12 hits as a team.
Stella Siemonsma had three home runs and seven RBIs. Ayla Kramer had two home runs and two RBIs. Sophie Rolfson had two singles with two RBIs. Teagan Lupkes also had two hits. Hoff finished with a home run and an RBI. Miley Travis added a single and an RBI. Maddy Kunzweiler added a triple. Hoff pitched two innings without a hit or walk and had five strikeouts. Hartman pitched one inning and recorded two strikeouts.
The Trojans will be the #4 seed in the State A Tournament and play #5 Beresford in the opening round on Thursday, June 4th at 12:00 p.m. The tournament will run through Saturday, June 6th at the Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen.
