Trojan Softball Team Falls to Dakota Valley at Home

The West Central Trojan softball team suffered a home loss to Dakota Valley on Monday, May 11th.  The Panthers built an early lead and then used a six-run sixth inning to help them to an 11-5 win.

Dakota Valley scored two runs in the top of the first inning and then added another two runs in the top of the third for a 4-0 lead.  Addy Kunzweiler had a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third to make the score 4-1.  Dakota Valley got that run back in the top of the fifth to put the lead back to four runs, 5-1.  Kunzweiler hit her second home run of the day to lead off the bottom of the fifth to make the score 5-2.  After back-to-back singles, Miley Travis hit a home run to center field to tie the game 5-5.  The Panthers, however, put together a six-run sixth inning to get the win.

Maddy Kunzweiler finished with three singles.  A. Kunzweiler had two home runs and two RBIs.  Ayla Kramer also had two hits.  Travis added a home run and three RBIs.  Sophie Rolfson and Teagan Lupkes each had a hit.  Linzie Hoff pitched six innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Emery Hartman pitched one inning and allowed six runs, all unearned, on four hits and a walk with one strikeout.
