The West Central Trojan softball team defeated the Vermillion Tanagers 17-1 in Vermillion on Monday, May 18th. The Trojans scored in all three innings of the game.
West Central put two runs on the board in the top of the first on a two-run home run by Ayla Kramer. They would add seven more runs in the top of the second with two outs on RBI hits from Linzie Hoff, Teagan Lupkes, and Stella Siemonsma. The offense kept rolling in the third inning with eight more runs for a 17-0 lead. Vermillion scored one run in the bottom of the third before the game ended on the 15-run rule.
L. Hoff had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Siemonsma added two singles and three RBIs. Maddy Kunzweiler ended two hits and an RBI. Kramer finished with a home run and three RBIs. Lupkes had a double and two RBIs. Sophie Rolfson had a double and one RBI. Addy Kunzweiler also had an RBI. L. Hoff pitched all three innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
