The West Central Trojan softball game finished the 2026 season with a third-place finish at the 2026 South Dakota State A Tournament held in Aberdeen Thursday, June 4th through Saturday, June 6th.
West Central 2, Beresford 0
A two-run bottom of the sixth was key for the Trojans opening-round win against the Watchdogs on Thursday. After five scoreless innings, Sophie Rolfson singled on a bunt, and Teagan Lupkes scored on an error to put West Central on the board. Briauna Hoff drove home another run with a single two batters later.
Linzie Hoff held Beresford scoreless and allowed just four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts. Maddy Kunzweiler and Stella Seimonsma both had two hits each, and each had a double. B. Hoff had a single and an RBI. Lupkes and Rolfson both had one hit each.
Elk Point-Jefferson 7, West Central 4
Each team had a three-run inning early in the game. The Huskies struck first with three runs in the top of the first. The Trojans tied the game, 3-3, on RBI hits by Siemonsma, L. Hoff, and Addy Kunzweiler in the bottom of the second. The score remained 3-3 until the top of the fifth. Elk Point-Jefferson broke the tie with a run in the inning. They added three more in the top of the sixth for a 7-3 lead. Siemonsma had an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh, but the Huskies held for the win.
L. Hoff had two hits and an RBI. Ayla Kramer and Travis each had two hits, including a double. Rolfson ended with two singles. Siemonsma had a hit and two RBIs. A. Kunzweiler had a hit and an RBI. B. Hoff also had one hit. L. Hoff pitched seven innings and allowed seven runs, four earned, on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.
West Central 11, Tri-Valley 1
The Trojans rebounded in the 3rd/4th place game against the Mustangs on Saturday. Kramer and Rolfson had RBI singles in the top of the first inning. A. Kunzweiler scored on a wild pitch in the top of the second. Travis added a home run in the top of the third, and L. Hoff had an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Trojans a 5-0 lead. Tri-Valley scored a run in the bottom of the third.
Rolfson and L. Hoff each had RBIs in the top of the fifth inning. Rolfson added another RBI single in the top of the sixth. Siemonsma had an RBI sacrifice fly, and L. Hoff drew a bases-loaded walk to make the score 11-1. The game ended on the 10-run rule after the sixth inning.
Rolfson had four hits and three RBIs. Travis had three hits, one a home run, and an RBI. Siemonsma had a double and an RBI. Kramer finished with a single and an RBI. A. Kunzweiler, B. Hoff, and Lupkes all had a double. L. Hoff finished with four RBIs. L. Hoff pitched four innings and allowed an earned run on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Emery Hartman tossed two innings and allowed three hits with a strikeout.
