Quarrier Girls Golf Finishes 9th at West Central

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls golf team finished ninth at the West Central Invite at Central Valley Golf Course on Monday, May 9th.  The Quarriers finished with a team score of 419.

Jayme Schmidt finished with a round of 98.  Abby Greenhoff had a round of 100.  Natalie Berg had a 110.  Avery Haskell had round of 111.  Emma Taubert ended the day with a 116, and Brynlee Kriens had a 137.

The Quarriers will be at the Madison Invitational on Thursday, May 12th.

Mustang Track Travels to Dell Rapids, Boys 3rd and Girls 10th

The Tri-Valley Mustang track team participated in the Quarrier Invitational on Monday, May 9th.  The boys team took third place with a total of 74 points.  The girls team finished 10th with 25 points.

The girls sprint medley relay team of Paige Jewett, Ella Richardson, Lauren Grinde, and Brie Peters finished second.  The 4x100m relay team of Emry Jones, Maddie Wenzel, Jewett, and Richardson had a third place finish.  Jones was fourth in the 100m hurdles.  Ava Pearson also had a fourth place finish in the shot put.

Connor Christensen won the shot put.  Isaac Nehlich finished second in the shot put.  Jaden Siemonsma (100m dash) and Noah Haynes (800m run) both had second place finishes.  The 4x100m relay team of Siemonsma, Dustin Sees, Carter Sorenson, and Michael Beyer placed second.  The 4x200m relay team of Eli McFarland, Sorenson, Sees, and Beyer also placed second.

Trojan Boys Win, Girls 9th at Quarrier Track Invite

The West Central Trojan boys track team took home the team title from the Quarrier Invitational on Monday, May 9th.  The boys team finished with 115 points.  The girls team finished ninth with a total of 28 points.

Aubrey Borns placed third in the 1600m run.  Peyton Meadors also placed third in the triple jump.  The 4x800m relay team of Cambree Ideker, Jazelle Jarding, Ellie McDonald, and Clara Nelson finished third.  Borns also had a fourth place finish in the 800m run.

Layton Johnson placed first in the 200m dash.  Benjamin Strunk won the 3200m run.  Gunnar Cuka had a pair of wins.  Cuka took first in the long jump and triple jump.  Carter Schmeichel was second in the 200m dash.  Jude Jarding was second in the 400m dash.  Liam Schmeichel placed second in the 110m hurdles.  Dylan Stromer and Cuka tied for second in the high jump.

Both Quarrier Track Teams Finish in Top 5 at Home Meet

The Dell Rapids Quarrier track teams hosted the Quarrier Invitational on Monday, May 9th.  The girls team finished fourth with 67 points.  The boys team finished second with 77.5 points.

The girls 4x100m relay team of Hanna VanOverbeke, Sophia Godwin, Madysen VanOverbeke, and Kylee Fiddelke took first place.  The 4x200m relay team of Godwin, M. VanOverbeke, Kennedy Krull, and Fiddelke also won.  Fiddelke also finished second in the 400m dash.  Clara Justice had a second place finish in the 300m hurdles.  Rileigh Foster was second in the javelin.  The 4x200m relay team of Elly Olson, Krull, Justice, and Fiddelke also placed second.

The boys 4x100m relay team of Ian Mason, Owen Nelson, Chase Jones, and Jade Anstine place first.  The 4x200m relay team of Mason, Nelson, Jones, and Anstine also placed first.  The 4x800m relay team of John Mortrude, Grady Lamer, Weston Mason, and Atticus Miles was also victorious.  Gunnar Chamley claimed first place in the discus.  The 4x400m relay team (Mortrude, Lamer, Camden Justice, W. Mason) and the sprint medley relay team (Jones, Anstine, Nelson, and Mortrude) both placed second.

Cardinal Boys 7th, Girls 8th at Quarrier Track Invite

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal track teams traveled just down the road for the Quarrier Invitational track meet on Monday, May 9th.  The boys team finished seventh with 38.5 points.  The girls team finished eighth with 38 points.  The Cardinals won three events on the day.

Madala Hanson won the 800m run with a time of 2:30.81.  The girls 4x400m relay team of Maya Heinitz, Ella Griffin, Brianna Griffin, and Hanson won with a time of 4:19.02.  The boys 4x400m relay team of Nic Gaspar, CJ Smith, Lincoln LeBrun, and Lucas Flemmer also took first in a time of 3:46.25.

Lucy Vargas placed fourth in the 3200m run.  Addison Libis was fourth in the 300m hurdles, and Jaycee Tebay was fourth in the discus.  John Pica placed second in the discus and third in the shot put.  Lucas Flemmer was third in the 100m dash.  The 4x100m relay team of Tate Bunkers, Gaspar, Smith, and Flemmer had a fourth place finish.

Cardinal Golfers Compete at DVC Tournament

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal golf teams traveled to Arlington for the Dakota Valley Conference Tournament at Lake Region Golf Club on Monday, May 9th.  The girls team finished fifth with a total score of 337.  The boys team finished 10th with a score of 358.

Rebecca Heinemann placed 15th individually with a round of 108.  Rachel Heinemann finished with a round of 114.  Brianna Weiland was one shot behind at 115.  Carley Roiger had a 121 on the day.

Aiden Allen finished with a 116 for the low score for the boys.  Brandon Cook had a round of 119, and Levi Gaul finished at 123.

Late Runs Secure Win for Dell Rapids

Leading 2-1 late in the game, Dell Rapids added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure a 5-1 Mother’s Day win over Lennox on Sunday, May 8th at Rickeman Field.

Dylan Mathis put Dell Rapids on the board with an RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning.  Another run was added in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Landon Ruesink.  Lennox scratched a run across the plate in the top of the fourth inning without a hit.  They had a hit battered followed by three straight walks for their run.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Dell Rapids scored three times to put the game out of reach.  Aiden Boechler had a two run single to right field, and Treyse Eastman reached on an error that scored Boechler.  The defense shined for Dell Rapids in the top of the sixth.  After a leadoff triple by Lennox, CJ Smith scooped a ground ball and threw a perfect throw to Eastman to get the runner out at home.  Dell Rapids then turned a double play one batter later to get out of the inning.

Ruesink had three of the seven hits for Dell Rapids and an RBI.  Mathis had a triple and an RBI.  Boechler finished with a hit and two RBIs.  Brayden Pankonen and Eastman both had a single.  Jack Henry pitched a complete game throwing seven innings while allowing one run on four hits and four walks with nine strikeouts.

Big Innings Lifts McCook Central over Tri-Valley

McCook Central scored in every inning against Tri-Valley on Sunday, May 8th, but it was a six-run third inning that was the difference.  Tri-Valley fell to McCook Central 13-7.

Tri-Valley got an RBI double by Connor Christensen in the top of the first inning to give the team a 1-0 lead.  McCook Central, however, scored 11 straight runs.  They got a run in the first inning, one in the second, six in third, and three more in the bottom of the fourth for an 11-1 lead.

Tri-Valley got three runs in the top of the fifth.  Barrett Althoff had an RBI single, Christensen scored on a passed ball, and Alex Wingen had an RBI single to make the score 11-4.  McCook Central got another run in the bottom of the fifth.  Tri-Valley added three more runs in the sixth inning.  Cole Focken had a two-run single, and Everett Althoff had an RBI double.

Christensen had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Noah Haynes had two hits.  Focken had a double and two RBIs.  E. Althoff had a double and an RBI.  Wingen and B. Althoff each had a hit and RBI.  Riley Carlson and Carter Sorenson each had a hit as well.

Kaden Egger pitched three innings allowing eight runs, but only two earned, on six hits and two walks.  Wingen pitched two innings and gave up three earned runs on a hit and four walks with two strikeouts.  Nathan Madison pitched an inning and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk.

Three Place at Howard Wood for Tri-Valley

The Tri-Valley Mustang track team competed at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday, May 6th and Saturday, May 7th in Sioux Falls.  The Mustangs had four events that placed in the top eight.

Michael Beyer placed sixth in the 110m hurdles with a time of :15.45.  The 4x100m relay team of Jaden Siemonsma, Dustin Sees, Carter Sorenson, and Beyer placed second with a time of :45.31.  The 4x400m relay team of Cory McDonald, Sorenson, Sees, and Noah Haynes finished sixth with a time of 3:39.08.

West Central Track Has Six Events Place at Howard Wood Dakota Relays

The West Central Trojan track team had six relays place at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 6th and Saturday, May 7th.  The Trojans had several athletes competing in the two-day event.

The girls 4x200m relay team of Emma Goehring, Lily Sidel, Molli Thornton, and Sadie Berg placed third with a time of 1:47.14.  The 4x100m relay team of Thornton, Sidel, Rylee Haldeman, and Goehring placed fourth in a time of :51.87.  The 4x400m relay team of Alexa Borns, Thornton, Peyton Meadors, and Melissa Anderson finished seventh in 4:22.06.

The boys 4x200m relay team of Carter Schmeichel, Mason Berens, Wyatt Nielsen, and Layton Johnson placed second in 1:32.12.  The 4x400m relay team of Nielsen, Schmeichel, Jude Jarding, and Johnson was third in 3:37.37.  The 4x100m relay team of Justin Zirpel, Johnson, Braden Dierickx, and Berens finished fourth in :45.52.
