Tri-Valley 16U Season Ends in Regions

The Tri-Valley 16U baseball season ended with two losses in the Region 3A tournament in Humboldt on Monday, July 25th.  Tri-Valley lost games to West Central and Madison.

West Central 7, Tri-Valley 3

West Central scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie and advance in the Region 3A tournament.  The game was scoreless for the first three innings.  West Central got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Tri-Valley scored once in the top of the fifth.  Benjamin Myhre reached on an error that scored Hunter Foster.  Tri-Valley then tied the game, 3-3, after two runs in the top of the sixth.  Carter Sorenson drove home two with a single.  West Central had the first four batters reach base in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two times.  They added two more runs with just one out to build a 7-3 lead for the win.

Sorenson had two hits and two RBIs in the game.  Ledger Burggraff also had two hits.  Alex Wingen and Levi Kretzschmar both had a single.  Wingen pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, none earned, on one hit and four walks with seven strikeouts.  Sorenson pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed four earned runs on two hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Everett Althoff pitched one inning and allowed one hit and one walk.

Madison 16, Tri-Valley 1

In the first elimination game of the tournament, Madison jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning.  Sorenson had a double and later scored in the bottom of the first for Tri-Valley to cut the lead to 3-1.  Madison scored one run in the second and third innings to lead 5-1 after three innings.  They would deliver the knock-out blow with 11 runs in the top of the fourth.

Sorenson finished with a double.  Wingen and Althoff each had a single.  Althoff pitched three innings and allowed 10 runs, six earned, on eight hits and four walks with three strikeouts.  Lofswold gave up an earned run on two hits and two walks.  Cyrus Kirstein pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed five earned runs on three hits and two walks.  Sorenson pitched 2/3 of an inning and recorded two strikeouts.

Colton Legion Baseball Season Ends in Regions

i-vaThe Colton Legion baseball team had their season come to an end in region tournament play against Canvoa on Thursday, July 21st.  Canova defeated Colton 13-6 in Humboldt.

Canova got off to a quick start scoring three times in the top of the first inning.  Colton got one run back in the bottom of the first.  Cole Focken had an RBI single.  Canova, however, scored three more times in the top of the second.  Joshua Lieseth reached on an error that scored Kaden Egger in the bottom of the second.  Riley Carlson had an RBI single, and Colton trailed 6-3 after two innings of play.

Canova added another run in the top of third, and then Colton cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning.  Lawson Louiseau had a two-run single to bring Colton within two runs.  They cut the lead to 7-6 in the bottom of the fourth after Nathan Madison had a two-out RBI single.  Canova was clinging to a one-run lead heading into the fifth inning.  They then scored two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and two in the seventh while holding Colton scoreless in the final three innings.

Focken and Madison both had three hits and an RBI each.  Louiseau had two hits and two RBIs.  Noah Haynes had two hits.  Carlson finished with a single and an RBI.  Connor Christensen and Egger each had a single.  Carlson pitched five innings and allowed nine runs, seven earned, on 10 hits and four walks and three strikeouts.  Focken pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Hanyes pitched 2/3 of an inning.

Tea Gold Steals Win from Tri-Valley 16U

Tea Gold scored two times in the top of the seventh to steal a 6-5 win over Tri-Valley 16U on Wednesday, July 20th.

Tea grabbed the early lead with two runs in the top of the first.  Tri-Valley got a run back in the bottom of the first when Alex Wingen scored on a passed ball.  Tea scored two more runs in the top of the second and led 4-1 after two innings.

Tri-Valley picked up two runs in the bottom of the third.  Everett Althoff and an RBI triple and then scored on an error to make it a 4-3 game.  They then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth.  Holden Rise reached on an error that scored Althoff and Carter Sorenson to give Tri-Valley the 5-4 advantage.  Tea took the lead back with two runs after two outs in the top of the seventh.

Althoff had two hits, one a triple, and an RBI.  Holden Foster and Sorenson both had singles.  Wingen pitched six innings and allowed four earned runs on four hits and five walks with four strikeouts.  Althoff pitched one inning and allowed two earned runs on a hit and two walks.

Tea Bolts Beat Tri-Valley 16U

The Tea Bolts scored in every inning but one in a 14-9 win over Tri-Valley 16U on Tuesday, July 19th.

Tea built an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first.  Tri-Valley cut into the lead in the top of the second.  Ledger Burggraff and Benjamin Myhre both had RBI singles to make the score 3-2.  Tri-Valley then took the lead in the top of the third.  Hunter Foster had an RBI double to tie the game 3-3.  Burggraff brought home two more with a single for a 5-3 lead.

Tea, however, would score the next 11 runs.  They regained the lead in the bottom of the third with five runs.  They had a single run in the fourth and fifth innings, and then scored four more times in the sixth.  Tea lead 14-5 heading into the top of the seventh inning.  Burggraff brought home another run with a single.  Myhre had a two-run single, and Burggraff later scored on a passed ball.

Burggraff had three hits and four RBIs.  Myhre also had three hits with three RBIs.  Everett Althoff finished with two hits.  Foster had a double and an RBI.  Carter Sorenson, H Rise, and Levi Kretzschmar all had singles.

Cody Lofswold pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts.  Sorenson pitched three innings and allowed six runs, three earned, on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Alex Wingen pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed a walk with a strikeout.

Colton Legion Falls to Salem

Colton scored the first run, but Salem had six unanswered runs the rest of the game for a 6-1 on Tuesday, July 19th.

Riley Carlson had a lead-off single in the bottom of the first inning.  Cole Focken had a double to move Carlson to third base, and then Nathan Madison had an RBI ground out to score Carlson for an early 1-0 lead.  Colton kept the 1-0 lead for two innings.  Salem then scored two runs in the top of the third inning and three more in the top of the fourth for a 5-1 lead.  They would add another run in the top of the sixth.  Colton was held to just three more hits after the first inning.

Focken finished with two hits, one a double.  Madison had a hit and an RBI.  Carlson and Kaden Egger both had a single as well.  Egger pitched six innings and allowed six earned runs on 12 hits with six strikeouts.  Noah Haynes pitched one inning and allowed two hits.

Tri-Valley 16U Gets One Hit Against Baltic

Baltic used two big innings to score 18 runs in an 18-0 win over Tri-Valley 16U on Thursday, July 14th.  Baltic scored 11 times in the top of the first inning and then seven more in the top of the third.

Tri-Valley was held to just one hit in the game.  Mayson Rise had a one-out single in the bottom of the third inning.  Benjamin Myhre pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed 11 earned runs on 11 hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Everett Althoff pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed seven earned runs on four hits and four walks with one strikeout.  Holden Rise pitched one inning and allowed one hit and two walks with one strikeout.

Tri-Valley 16U Blanked by Madison White

Tri-Valley 16U was shut out by Madison White at home on Tuesday, July 12th. Madison had an eight-run second inning and won 10-0 in five innings on the 10-run rule. Madison also scored a run in the top of the third and top of the fifth.

Tri-Valley was held to just two hits in the game. Holden Rise and Levi Kretzschmar each had a single. Carter Sorenson pitched three innings and allowed nine runs, five earned, on six hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. Cyrus Kirstein pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run on three walks with three strikeouts.

Colton Legion Held to One Run Against Vermillion

Vermillion Post 1 defeated the Colton legion baseball team 18-1 on Monday, July 11th in Colton.  Vermillion scored in every inning but the first inning and held Colton to just three hits.

After a scoreless first inning, Vermillion scored six times in the top of the second inning and three in the third for a 9-0 lead.  Colton got a run in the bottom of the third.  Riley Carlson had a single and an error by the center fielder allowed Tanner VanAsselt to score.  Vermillion would add two more runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth inning.

Carlson, T. VanAsselt, and Nathan Madison each had a single in the game.  Carlson pitched two innings and allowed six runs, two earned, on five hits and four walks.  Noah Haynes also pitched two innings and allowed 11 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits and a walk with a strikeout.  Derek VanAsselt pitched an inning and allowed an unearned run on a hit and walk with a strikeout.

Tri-Valley White 14U Drops Two in Region 4A

Tri-Valley White 14U lost both of their games in the Region 4A tournament in Parker on Monday, July 11th.  Tri-Valley had games against West Central and Madison Black.

West Central 16, Tri-Valley White 1

In the opening game of the tournament, West Central scored in every inning in a 16-1 win over Tri-Valley.  West Central scored four runs in the first, one in the second, nine in the third, and two more in the fourth to end the game on the 15-run rule.

Matthew Cypher scored the only run for Tri-Valley in the top of the fourth on a passed ball. Cypher also had two hits in the game.  Noah Eggert had a double.  Brady Jewett and Austin Puetz both had a single.  Landen Jensen pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed 14 runs, six earned, on 10 hits with four walks and a strikeout.

Madison Black 14, Tri-Valley White 4

In an elimination game, Madison used an 11-run second inning for a 14-4 win.

Tri-Valley held a lead after scoring a run in the top of the first.  Blaine Wiezoreck had an RBI single.  Madison scored three times in the bottom of the first for a 3-1 lead.  Tri-Valley tied the game in the top of the second.  Jensen had an RBI single, and Sullivan Snethen scored on a passed ball to make the score 3-3.  Madison then had their 11-run bottom of the second to lead 14-3.  Cooper Nielson had an RBI single in the top of the fifth.

Wiezoreck had two hits and an RBI.  Nielson and Jensen both had a single and an RBI.  Puetz and Sharpe each had a single.  Jewett pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed 14 runs, three earned, on eight hits and five walks with a strikeout.

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U Season Ends in Region 5A Tournament

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U season came to an end at the Region 5A tournament in Madison on Monday, July 11th.  Tri-Valley finished 1-2 in their three games in the tournament.

Dell Rapids 16, Tri-Valley Maroon 3

In the opening game of the tournament on Friday, July 8th, Dell Rapids broke a 3-3 tie with 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 16-3 win.  Dell Rapids scored the first three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Tri-Valley tied the game in the top of the second.  Tristen Bunde had an RBI single.  Denton Bicknase reached on an error that scored Bunde, and Mason Hemme had an RBI ground out.

Bunde had a hit and an RBI.  Treyson Richter and Parker Hemme both had a single.  M. Hemme and Bicknase each had an RBI.

Tri-Valley Maroon 19, Lennox 13s 4

On Saturday, July 9th, Tri-Valley held off elimination with a big 19-4 win over Lennox.  Tri-Valley jumped on Lennox for eight runs in the top of the first inning.  They got five more in the second, and then three runs each in the third and fourth innings.  Lennox scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the third.

Bunde had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Bicknase finished with two hits and two RBIs.  Gage Egger had two hits and an RBI.  Kaiden Bernards and Parker Atwood both had a hit and two RBIs.  M. Hemme and P. Hemme both added a single.  Myles DeWitt had an RBI.

Bunde pitched two innings and allowed two hits with three strikeouts.  Bernards pitched 1 1/3 innings and recorded a strikeout.  Egger pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed four runs, none of them earned, on three hits and two walks with a strikeout.

Dell Rapids 9, Tri-Valley Maroon 5

Tri-Valley and Dell Rapids met again in an elimination game on Monday, July 11th.

Tri-Valley struck first with two runs in the top of the second.  Dylan Christensen scored on a balk, and Jackson Williams had an RBI ground out.  They would add two more runs in the top of the third.  Atwood had an RBI ground out, and Egger had an RBI sacrifice fly to give Tri-Valley a 4-0 lead.

Dell Rapids cut the lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the third, and then took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs.  Tri-Valley tied the game 5-5 with a run in the top of the sixth when Bernards scored on an error.  Dell Rapids, however, scored four times in the bottom of the sixth for the 9-5 win.

Bernards had the only hit for Tri-Valley in the game, a triple.  Atwood, Egger, and Williams all had an RBI.  Bicknase pitched five innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Bernards pitched an inning and allowed an earned run on a hit and walk with a strikeout.
