The West Central Trojan softball team suffered a tough loss to the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots, 10-9, in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, May 5th.
Ayla Kramer blasted a three-run home run to center field in the top of the first to give the Trojans a 3-0 lead. The Patriots scored twice in the bottom of the first to make the score 3-2. Linzie Hoff had an RBI double, and Addy Kunzweiler had an RBI single in the top of the second. Kramer had an RBI single, and Brooklyn Roberts scored on an error later in the inning to extend the Trojan lead to 7-2.
Sioux Falls Lincoln rallied for six big runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to go in front 8-7. They would add two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 10-7. Teagan Lupkes had an RBI double and then scored on an error in the top of the seventh, but West Central was unable to get the third run to tie the game.
Kramer had four hits, including a home run and double, and four RBIs. Lupkes ended with a single and double with an RBI. Maddy Kunzweiler added two hits. L. Hoff had a double and an RBI. A. Kunzweiler added a single and an RBI. Stella Siemonsma also had a hit. L. Hoff pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, all unearned, on seven hits and two walks with a strikeout. Briauna Hoff pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits and a walk with a strikeout.
