Big Seventh Inning Helps Trojan Softball to Win over Beresford

The West Central Trojan softball team broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning and then used a big seventh inning to help them to a 13-7 win over the Bersford Watchdogs on Friday, May 1st.

After a scoreless first inning, Teagan Lupkes had an RBI single in the top of the second to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.  Lupkes would drive home two more runs in the top of the third for a 3-0 advantage.  Beresford got one run back in the bottom of the third for a 3-1 score.  Maddy Kunzweiler had an RBI sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth to push the lead back to three, 4-1.  The Watchdogs, however, scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game 4-4.

The Trojans regained the lead on an RBI fly out by Ayla Karmer in the top of the sixth.  Then came the big inning.  Linzie Hoff scored on an error.  Addy Kunzweiler and Sophie Rolfson each had RBI singles.  M. Kunzweiler then had an RBI triple.  Kramer had another RBI sacrifice fly, and L. Hoff had an RBI double to make the score 13-4.  The Watchdogs scored three times in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.

Lupkes had four hits and three RBIs.  Rolfson also had four hits with two RBIs.  A. Kunzweiler finished with three singles and an RBI.  L. Hoff had a triple and double with an RBI.  Miley Travis added two hits, one a double.  M. Kunzweiler had a triple and two RBIs.  Kramer had a single and two RBIs.  Paiten Schuldt ended with a single, and Emma Voeltz had two RBIs.

Briauna Hoff pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  L. Hoff pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
