The West Central high school baseball team earned a big win over Flandreau on Wednesday, April 16th. They used two seven-run innings to lead them to an 18-2 win.
Neither team scored in the opening inning. West Central then had their first seven-run inning in the top of the second. Flandreau scored one run in the bottom of the second. After a scoreless third inning, West Central added four runs in the top of the fourth. They would then have their second seven-run inning in the top of the fifth to go ahead 18-1. Flandreau scored just one time in the bottom of the fifth before the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Caden Alfson had three hits, including a home run and double, with two RBIs. Ashton Gebhardt also had three hits with two RBIs. Gunnar Aflson finished with three hits, one a double, and an RBI. Keaton Vessells had two doubles and an RBI. Zach Lorang added a double with three RBIs. CJ DenBoer, Beckett Everson, and Lando Whiting all had a single and an RBI each.
Gebhardt pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. DenBoer pitched 2/3 innings and recorded one strikeout.
