West Central Baseball Gets Road Win over Tri-Valley

The West Central high school baseball team used an early lead to help them to an 8-3 win over Tri-Valley in Colton on Monday, May 11th.

Eli Koehn got the scoring started in the top of the first with an RBI single.  CJ Den Boer had an RBI triple in the top of the second followed by an RBI sacrifice fly by Beckett Everson to make the score 3-0.  Tri-Valley scored a single run in both the second and third innings to cut the lead to 3-2.

Gunnar Alfson extended the West Central lead with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.  JT Steckley also scored later in the inning for a 5-2 advantage.  Tri-Valley added another run in the bottom of the fourth making the score 5-3.  West Central added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Den Boer and a run by Hayden Whiting on a passed ball.

Alfson had four hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Den Boer ended with a triple and double with three RBIs.  Whiting had a single and a double.  Everson and Koehn each had a single and an RBI.  Steckley also had a hit.  Alfson pitched three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit and six walks with four strikeouts.  Taten Van Overbeke tossed 2 2/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on two walks.  Den Boer through 1 1/3 innings and struck out three batters.
