West Central Trojans Start Season with Four Wins

The West Central Trojans traveled to Sioux Center, IA and came home with four wins to start the 2025 season on Saturday, March 29th.  The Trojans earned wins over Bon Homme, Deuel, Alcester-Hudson, and Beresford at the American State Bank Sports Complex.

West Central 13, Bon Homme 3

The Trojans built a 5-0 lead after the first inning.  They added three more runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the third for a 12-0 advantage.  Bon Homme got three runs in the top of the fourth to make the score 12-3.  The Trojans added one more run in the bottom of the inning.  They held the Cavaliers scoreless in the top of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Ayla Kramer had three doubles and four RBIs in the game.  Addy Kunzweiler had three hits, two of them doubles, and an RBI.  Elisabeth Miller had a home run and four RBIs.  Sophie Rolfson added a double and two RBIs.  Maddy Knuzweiler had a double and an RBI.  Izzi Parsons, Kadence Lupkes, and Miley Travis all had one single each.  Briauna Hoff added an RBI.  Miller got the win on the mound throwing three innings without allowing a hit with eight strikeouts.

West Central 5, Deuel 2

The Cardinals of Deuel held a lead for most of the game.  They scored two runs right away in the top of the first inning.  The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the third.  Rolfson had an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1.  Deuel continued to lead 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning.  Kramer tied the game with a home run to centerfield.  K. Lupkes gave the Trojans a 3-2 lead with an RBI double.  The Trojans added two more runs and held Deuel in the seventh to earn the win.

K. Lupkes had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Kramer had a home run and an RBI.  Teagan Lupkes had a single and an RBI.  E. Miller finished with a triple.  A. Kunzweiler had a double, and Parsons had a single.  Rolfson had an RBI.  Miller took the win throwing the last three innings without allowing a hit and striking out eight more batters.

West Central 11, Alcester-Hudson 1

A big second inning lifted the West Central Trojans to a win over the Cubs.  After a scoreless first inning, West Central scored eight times in the bottom of the second inning for an 8-0 lead.  Alcester-Hudson got a run in the top of the third, but the Trojans got the run back making the score 9-1.  West Central scored two more times in the bottom of the fourth to end the game with an 11-1 score.

Kramer had three hits, including a double, and an RBI.  M. Kunzweiler had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  T. Lupkes had two doubles and an RBI.  Hoff ended with two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  K. Lupkes had a single with two RBIs.  Miller had a double and an RBI.  Parsons had a single and an RBI.  Miller threw all four innings and allowed an earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

West Central 10, Beresford 0

Early runs led to the win over the Watchdogs for the Trojans.  They put five runs on the board in the top of the first inning.   West Central added three more in the top of the second for an early 8-0 lead.  The score remained 8-0 until the top of the fifth.  The Trojans scored two more times to increase the lead to 10-0.  The Watchdogs were held scoreless, and the game ended on the 10-run rule after five innings.

Miller had three hits, including a home run, with three RBIs.  M. Kunzweiler had two hits and three RBIs.  Kramer finished with two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Parsons and Hoff both had two hits each.  K. Lupkes and A. Kunzweiler each had an RBI.  Miller again pitched all five innings and allowed just two hits and two walks while recording 12 strikeouts.
