Trojans Softball in Championship Game

The West Central Trojan softball team punched their ticket to the 2023 South Dakota State A Softball Championship game with a 16-2 win over Dakota Valley in the semifinals on Friday, June 2nd.

West Central put the pressure on early with three runs in the top of the first.  Dakota Valley got one run back in the bottom of the inning for a 3-1 score.  Neither team scored in the second.  The Trojans added two more in the top of the third.  The Panthers got one run in the bottom of the third, and West Central led 5-2 after three innings.  The Trojan offense then scored four times in the top of the fourth and seven more in the top of the sixth for the 16-2 win.

Izzi Parsons had five hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Caitlyn Hoff had four hits, two of them doubles, and five RBIs.  Jocelyn Nilson finished with three hits, two doubles, and four RBIs.  Kaylee Olson had three hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Ayla Kramer also had three hits and an RBI.  Elisabeth Miller added two singles.  Emillee Stofferahn had a single and an RBI.  Hanna Raethz ended the game with two RBIs.  Stofferahn pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Hoff pitched the final three innings allowing two hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

The Trojans will play Tea for the State A title on Saturday, June 3rd at 5:30 p.m.
