Vermillion Softball Earns Walk-off Win over Tri-Valley

Tri-Valley held a one-run lead going into the bottom of the seventh, but Vermillion scored two runs to get a 7-6 win over the Mustangs on Friday, April 19th.

The Tanagers scored the first two runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Tri-Valley tied the game after an RBI double by Keagan Kuchta and an RBI groundout by Ava Christensen in the top of the second.  Vermillion regained the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-2 score.  Kadence Davey had an RBI single in the top of the fourth.  Emry Jones added a solo home run in the top of the fifth to make the score 5-4.  Tri-Valley took the lead in the top of the seventh with an RBI double by Izzy Davey and RBI single by Reagan Pearson.  The Tanagers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh with one out to win the game.

Kuchta had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI.  Pearson had three hits and an RBI.  Jones finished with a home run and triple and an RBI.  I. Davey had a double and an RBI.  K. Davey and Christensen both had a single and an RBI.  Reese Wilt and Emery Pearson both had a single.  I. Davey pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
