Mustang Softball Cruises into State Tournament

The Tri-Valley Mustang softball team cruised to a 15-0 SoDak16 win at home against Canton on Tuesday, May 24th to punch their ticket to the state tournament.

The Mustangs put seven runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning highlighted by RBI doubles from Mattie Huwe, Kadence Davey, and Rowyn Gacke.  They would add seven more runs in the bottom of the second.  Emry Jones had a home run.  Isabella Wemore-Ocampo had an RBI single.  Gacke and Davey each added another RBI double to make the score 14-0.  Neither team scored in the third inning.  Tri-Valley ended the game on the 15-run rule in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double from Rylin Fods.

Gacke finished with two doubles and a triple with three RBIs.  Davey had two doubles and a single also with three RBIs.  Jones ended with a home run and single with two RBIs.  Hailey Sorenson had two hits.  Huwe and Fods both had a double with an RBI.  Wetmore-Ocampo added a single and an RBI.  Syenna Halverson also had a double.  Haleigh Wallenstein and Peyton Vogt both had one hit each.  Jones pitched all four innings and allowed just one hit with seven strikeouts.

Tri-Valley will be the #2 seed in the State A Tournament which will be held in Aberdeen Thursday, June 4th through Saturday, June 6th.  They will play #7 Lennox in the opening round on June 4th at 2:00 p.m.
