Tri-Valley Softball Wins Fifth Game of Season

The Tri-Valley Mustangs won their fifth softball game of the year after a 10-8 victory over the Gayville-Volin Raiders in Crooks on Thursday, April 25th.  The Mustangs scored in every inning but the first in the win.

The Raiders put two runs on the board in the top of the first inning.  They added another in the top of the second for an early 3-0 lead.  Keagan Kuchta led off the second inning with a solo home run to left field.  Isabella Wetmore-Ocampo scored on an error to cut the lead to 3-2.  After the Raiders scored two more runs in the top of the third, Reagan Pearson had an RBI ground out.  Ava Christensen followed with a two-run single to tie the game 5-5.

The Mustangs took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Syenna Bird.  Gayville-Volin tied the game, 6-6, with a run in the top of the fifth.  Wetmore-Ocampo put Tri-Valley back in front with an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fifth.  Tri-Valley held the Raiders scoreless in the sixth, and then padded their lead in the bottom of the inning.  Kadence Davey had a home run to start the inning.  R. Pearson had a two-run double to extend the lead to 10-6.  The Raiders scored two runs in the top of the seventh.

Bird had two hits, one a home run, and an RBI.  R. Pearson had a double and three RBIs.  Christensen finished with a single and two RBIs.  K. Davey and Kuchta both had a home run and an RBI.  Wetmore-Ocampo finished with a single and an RBI.  Izzy Davey and Emery Pearson both had a single in the game.  Kuchta started the game pitching and threw 2 1/3 innings allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits with two strikeouts.  I. Davey pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, just one earned, on four hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts.
