Tri-Valley Baseball Suffers Loss to McCook Central/Montrose

The Tri-Valley high school club baseball team suffered a road loss in Salem to the McCook Central/Montrose Burros, 11-5, on Sunday, May 7th.

Tyler Groenewold put Tri-Valley on the board right away in the top of the first inning with an RBI single. The Burros took the lead in the bottom of the first with two runs.  In the top of the second inning, Nathan Madison and Lawson Louiseu both scored on an error, and Kaden Egger scored on a passed ball to put Tri-Valley in front 4-2.  McCook Central/Montrose tied the game, 4-4, with two more runs in the bottom of the second.

After a scoreless third inning, the Burros took the lead again, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth with one run.  Tri-Valley got the tying run across home in the top of the fifth when Brody Dybvig scored on an error.  The Burros, however, scored four times in the bottom of the fifth and then added two more in the bottom of the sixth for the win.

Sorenson had two hits.  Noah Haynes had a double and an RBI.  Groenewold had a single and an RBI.  Dybvig added a triple.  Madison and Egger each had a hit.  Everett Althoff finished with an RBI.  Landon Schenkel pitched four innings and allowed eight runs, six earned, on 12 hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.  Dybvig pitched two innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on one hit and two walks with one strikeout.
