Tri-Valley Baseball Rally Falls Short Against Baltic

Tri-Valley tried to erase an eight-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh, but their rally fell short against Baltic on Tuesday, May 9th.  Baltic held for an 8-5 victory.

Beau Keith had an RBI single in the top of the first inning to give Baltic a 1-0 lead.  Braxton Allen added an RBI groundout in the top of the second to extend the lead to 2-0.  The score remained 2-0 nothing until the top of the fifth inning.  Tayden Hansen scored on an error, and Matt Muston had an RBI single for a 5-0 lead.  Baltic scored three more times in the top of the sixth.  Jackson Goehring scored on a wild pitch, Keith had an RBI fielder’s choice, and Beau Breace stole home to lead 8-0.

Tri-Valley put together a nice rally in the bottom of the seventh, all with two outs.  Everett Althoff had an RBI single.  Brody Dybvig had an RBI single as well.  Nathan Madison followed that with a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.  Tristen Bunde had a two-run single to cut the lead to 8-5.  Tri-Valley had the tying run at the plate with two outs, but Baltic got out of the inning with a ground out.

Althoff had two singles and an RBI.  Bunde added a single with two RBIs.  Dybvig had a single and an RBI.  Hunter Foster ended with a single, and Madison had an RBI.  Kaden Egger pitched five innings allowing six earned runs on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  Alex Wingen pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on a hit and walk with one strikeout.
