Tri-Valley Baseball Snaps Skid with Win over Hanson

The Tri-Valley high school club baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 10-6 win over Hanson at home on Tuesday, May 16th.

Tri-Valley was able to build an early lead and held for the victory.  Everett Althoff had an RBI single, and Noah Haynes and Althoff both scored on a wild pitch for an early 3-0 lead.  Hanson scored two times in the top of the second, but Tri-Valley responded with four more in the bottom of the second.  Alex Wingen had an RBI single, Tyler Groenewold drove home two with a single, and Nathan Madison had a bases-loaded walk to make the score 7-2.

Wingen extended the Tri-Valley lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the third for an 8-2 score.  Hanson put together a rally in the top of the fourth with four runs to cut the lead to 8-6.  Tri-Valley got two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Madison had an RBI ground out, and Kaden Egger had an RBI sacrifice fly.

Wingen had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Althoff had two singles and an RBI.  Groenewold finished with a single and two RBIs.  Egger had a hit and RBI.  Brody Dybvig and Carter Sorenson both had a single in the game.  Madison ended with two RBIs.  Groenewold pitched five innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits and four walks with seven strikeouts.  Dybvig pitched two innings allowing just one hit with two strikeouts.
