Tri-Valley Baseball Drops Tough Game to Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery

The Tri-Valley high school baseball team hosted Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery in their first game of the season on Monday, April 7th.  Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery scored five times in the top of the seventh and then held off Tri-Valley for a 15-14 win.

The offenses were held relatively quiet through the first three innings.  Tri-Valley held a 2-1 lead going into the top of the fourth.  Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery scored six times in the top of the fourth to take a 7-2 lead.  Tri-Valley responded with a six-run fourth inning to go back in front 8-7.

The score got tied, 8-8, after Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery scored a run.  Tri-Valley rallied for four more runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 12-8 advantage.  Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery cut the lead in half, 12-10, with two runs in the top of the sixth.  Tri-Valley appeared to add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and held a 13-10 lead going into the seventh inning.

Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery took advantage of walks in the top of the seventh.  Five of the first six batters drew a walk and two runs scored in that time to make the score 13-12.  After a second strikeout and two outs, Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery delivered a big blow with a three-run single to take a 15-13 lead.  Treyson Richter started the seventh with a double and scored on an RBI single by Denton Bicknase.  Tri-Valley had the tying run on third base and the winning run on second, but a sinking line drive was caught at short stop to end the game.

Richter had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.  Brody Dybvig had three hits, two of them singles, and two RBIs.  Bicknase added a single and an RBI.  Brechen Frederick had a single, and a Wingen had an RBI.  Landon Schenkel pitched three innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Tristen Bunde threw three innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on a hit and five walks with three strikeouts.  Wingen pitched one inning and gave up five earned runs on a hit and five walks with three strikeouts.
