The Tri-Valley high school baseball team won three games in four days to improve to 3-1 on the season. They defeated Vermillion, 3-1, on Thursday, April 10th. The next day they defeated Garretson, 7-1, on Friday, April 11th. After a day off, Tri-Valley hosted Sioux Valley and took an 11-1 on Sunday, April 13th.
Tri-Valley 3, Vermillion 1
Three runs in the last two innings helped Tri-Valley to a 3-1 win in Vermillion. After two scoreless innings, Vermillion scored their run in the bottom of the third inning. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth inning. Treyson Ricther and Denton Bicknase both scored on an error in the inning to put Tri-Valley ahead 2-1. Brody Dybvig had an RBI single in the top of the seventh to give Tri-Valley an insurance run.
Dybvig finished with a single and an RBI. Alex Wingen and Tristen Bunde each had a single. Bicknase pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Wingen pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed a hit with three strikeouts.
Tri-Valley 7, Garretson 1
Garretson scored a run in the top of the first inning, but it was all Tri-Valley after that. Tri-Valley scored two in the bottom of the first and two more in the second for a 4-1 lead. They would add a single run in the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth.
Brechen Frederick had two hits and an RBI. Aiden Bunde also had two hits, one of them a double. Richter finished with a single and an RBI. Dybvig also had a single. T. Bunde pitched all seven innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.
Tri-Valley 11, Sioux Valley 1
A big third inning sparked the win for Tri-Valley on Sunday. Each team scored a run in the first inning for a 1-1 tie. After a scoreless second inning, Tri-Valley scored seven times in the bottom of the third. They had two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Parker Hemmer had two hits, one a triple, and an RBI. Dybvig also had two hits with an RBI. Frederick added a single and two RBIs. Ricther had a triple and an RBI. Wingen and A. Bunde each had a single and an RBI. T. Bunde and Jackson Williams both had a single. Wingen pitched three innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and walk with five strikeouts. Dybvig pitched two innings and allowed two walks and had four strikeouts.
