Mustang Volleyball Wins Season Opener in Straight Sets

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team started the 2026 season with a home match against the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, August 25th.  The Mustangs took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-21.

The Mustangs started the opening set with a 3-0 run.  The Blue Dragons tied the score 3-3 with three straight points.  Garretson continued their run and took a 6-4 lead.  Tri-Valley tied the score 8-8, and the two teams were tied again at 11-11.  The Mustangs then went on a 4-0 run for a 15-11 lead.  That run kept them in the lead the rest of the set.  They led 20-16 before ending the first set on a 5-1 run for the win.

The momentum carried into the start of the second set as Tri-Valley started with a 4-0 run.  Garretson got on a run of their own, 5-0, to take a 5-4 lead.  The Mustangs stopped the rally there and responded with five in a row for a 9-5 lead.  They were able to extend their lead to 17-11.  Garretson was able to cut the lead down to two points, 19-17, but Tri-Valley finished the second set on a 6-2 run for a 25-19 win.

The third set started with a 3-3 tie.  Garretson went on a 4-0 run to go in front 7-3.  Tri-Valley eventually tied the score 11-11.  The score was tied again 14-14 and 17-17.  The Mustangs went on a final run of the match, 4-0, to go in front 21-17.  They led 23-20 before winning the set, and match, 25-21.
