Tri-Valley Maroon 16U scored early and enough to earn an 8-5 win over Volga on the road on Thursday, July 6th.
Cyrus Kirstein and Brody Dybvig both scored on a steal of home in the top of the first inning for an early 2-0 lead. Volga got one run back in the bottom of the inning. Dybvig added an RBI double then scored on another steal of home to put Tri-Valley ahead 4-1. Volga responded again with two runs to cut the lead to 4-3.
Tri-Valley Maroon put together a strong rally in the top of the fourth inning. Carter Sorenson had an RBI double, Dybvig also had an RBI double, and Tristen Bunde drove home two with a single to extend the lead to 8-3. Volga got their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Dybvig had two doubles and two RBIs. Sorenson finished with a double and an RBI. Bunde had a single with two RBIs. Parker Hemme and Kirstein each had a double. Denton Bicknase and Matthew Cypher each had a single. Sorenson pitched three innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Bunde pitched two innings and allowed three hits with two strikeouts. Bicknase also pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits and a walk.
