The Tri-Valley Maroon and Madison Maroon 16U baseball teams played a 14-inning game on Thursday, June 29th. Madison scored six times in the top of the fourteenth to come away with an 18-13 victory.
Tri-Valley held a 4-1 lead after two innings of play. They scored three times in the bottom of the first, and then each team scored a run in the second. Madison scored the next four runs. They got a run in the top of the third and three more in the fourth. After four innings of play, Madison had a 5-4 lead.
Tri-Valley gained the lead back in the bottom of the fifth, 9-5, with a five-run inning. Madison would tie the game, 9-9, with a four-run top of the sixth inning. Each team scored a run in the seventh keeping the game tied 10-10. Neither team would score in the eighth inning, and then each team would score a run in the ninth to keep the game rolling. The score remained 11-11 until the thirteenth inning. Again each team would get a run, and the game would go into the fourteenth. In the top of that inning, Madison scored six times. Tri-Valley would only get one run in the bottom of the inning.
Carter Sorenson had three hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Denton Bicknase finished with two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Cyrus Kirstein had two singles and an RBI. Hunter Foster had a hit and two RBIs. Tristen Bunde and Dylan Christensen each had a hit and an RBI. Parker Hemme finished with a double. M Cypher had a single.
Bunde pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits and three walks with nine strikeouts. Sorenson pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Bicknase threw 1 2/3 innings and allowed three hits with one strikeout. Christensen also pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. P. Hemme pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out one. Mason Hemme pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed four runs, two earned, on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
