Early Lead Gives Tri-Valley Baseball First Win

Tri-Valley scored five times in the first three innings on their way to a 7-2 win over the Mt Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney (MVPCS) Padres on Wednesday, April 12th.

Tri-Valley got two runs right away in the top of the first inning.  Everett Althoff had a two-run single.  The Padres got one run back in the bottom of the first, but Tri-Valley put three runs on the board in the top of the third.  Brody Dybvig, Althoff, and Lawson Louiseau all scored on an error to push the lead to 5-1.  Tyler Groenewold scored on an error in the top of the fourth making the score 6-1.  MVPCS scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth.  The final run for Tri-Valley came in the top of the seventh when Dybvig scored on a passed ball.

Tri-Valley only had three hits in the game, but took advantage of seven Padre errors.  Althoff had a single and two RBIs.  Groenewold had a triple, and Tristen Bunde had a single.  Carter Sorenson got the win pitching six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.  Groenewold pitched one inning and struck out one batter.
