Dell Rapids PBR won their opening round game of the 2023 State B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Mitchell on Sunday, August 6th. PBR defeated the Parkston Mudcats 6-2.
PBR got on the board first on an RBI double by Weston Hansen in the top of third inning. Parkston tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and then took the lead with another run in the bottom of the fifth. PBR then had a big five-run seventh inning to take the lead for the win. Conner Spindler had an RBI single. Hansen, Riley Hoffman, Chris Burke, and CJ Smith all had bases-loaded walks to go ahead 6-2.
Hansen had a double and two RBIs. Spindler, Hoffman, and Burke all had a single and an RBI. Brayden Pankonen had three hits, one of those a double. Smith added an RBI. Trey Randel pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Reese Arbogast pitched three innings and allowed two hits and struck out two batters.
PBR will play Madison on Wednesday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m.
