Dell Rapids PBR’s season ended in the semifinals of the 2026 South Dakota State B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Mitchell on Saturday, August 15th.
PBR 3, Parkston 1
Dell Rapids advanced to the semifinal round with a 3-1 win over Parkston on Thursday, August 13th. Parkston scored a run in the top of the second for a 1-0 lead. Chris Kropuenske tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Braydon Pankonen put PBR in front, 2-1, with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Weston Hansen had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 3-1, where the score remained the rest of the game.
Riley Hoffman had a double and a single. Kropuenske, Hansen, and Pankonen all had a single with an RBI. Jake Bradenburg, Tad Tjaden, and Conner Spindler all had a hit as well. Brett Mogen pitched all nine innings and allowed an earned run on five hits with 11 strikeouts.
Alexandrian 14, PBR 5
The Angels pulled away from PBR in the middle innings to advance to the championship game. PBR took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Alexandria tied the game, 2-2, with two in the top of the second. PBR regained the lead, 3-2, with a run in the bottom of the third. That’s when Alexandria then went on a run. They scored two runs in the top of the fourth, one in the fifth, five in the top of the sixth, and four in the top of the seventh to make the score 14-3. PBR scored two more times in the bottom of the seventh to avoid the 10-run rule.
Brandenburg had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs. Hansen added two singles and an RBI. Kropuenske had a single and an RBI. Hoffman added a triple. Zach Puetz and Tjaden each had a single. Drew Sweeter pitched five of the innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on nine hits and two walks.
