The Dell Rapids Mudcats slugged their way to a 16-1 victory over the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks on Thursday, June 17th.
Three players hit home runs in the first inning to set the tone for Dell Rapids. Ty Hoglund and Dalton Lehnen had solo home runs in the inning, and Mark Abrahamson had a two-run home run for an early 4-0 lead. Hoglund added another solo home run in the second inning, and Abrahamson had an RBI single to push the lead to 6-0. The Mudcats picked up three more runs in the fifth inning followed by a seven-run sixth inning.
Abrahamson had four hits, including a home run and double, with three RBIs. Hoglund had two home runs and a triple with three RBIs. Landon Ruesink finished with three singles and an RBI. Lehnen added two hits, one a home run, and an RBI. Dalton Allen had three hits and two RBIs. Kris Regas, Kole Zimmerman, Spencer Freudenthal, and Logan Stone all had one hit each. Allen was the winning pitcher throwing five innings allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
