The Dell Rapids Mudcats defeated the Winner/Colome Pheasants in the Cornbelt/Sunshine League Showdown in Parkston on Sunday, June 18th. The Mudcats took the 10-4 win in seven innings.
The Pheasants took the lead with a run in the first inning. Dell Rapids got a two-run double by Ty Hoglund in the second inning. The Mudcat lead grew to 4-1 after two more runs in the third inning. WInner/Colome cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the fourth inning. Dell Rapids got that run back in the fifth on an RBI double by Olson. The Mudcats then had a big five-run sixth inning, while the Pheasants only scored two in the sixth inning.
Hoglund had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Carter Gullickson had two hits and two RBIs. Grant Olson also had two hits and an RBI. Elijah Story added two singles. Trevor Freudenthal had a double with two RBIs. Chad Hunt also had a double. Kole Zimmerman, Spencer Freudenthal, Landon Ruesink, and Dalton Allen all had one hit each. Kris Regas pitched six innings allowing four runs and seven hits while striking out six. Dusty Haffeman pitched a perfect seventh inning.
