Dell Rapids Baseball Wins Fourth Straight

The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team won their fourth straight game after a 17-4 win at Parkston on Wednesday, April 26th.

Dell Rapids used three big innings in their win.  They opened the game with six runs in the top of the first inning.  Dylan Mathis had an RBI single and then scored on a wild pitch, Jack Henry scored on a balk, Mason Stubbe had a two-run double, and Drake Eastman had an RBI single.  Parkston got one run back in the bottom of the inning.

Four runs came home in the top of the second for Dell Rapids.  Joe Rechtenbaugh and D. Eastman both had two-run doubles to give Dell Rapids a 10-1 lead.  Parkston got three runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 10-4, but Dell Rapids put the game out of reach with seven in the top of the fifth.  Mathis had a two-run double, and then he and CJ Smith scored on an error, Braden Fersdahl had an RBI groundout, Stubbe scored on a passed ball, and Brayden Pankonen had an RBI single.

D. Eastman had three hits, including a double, with three RBIs.  Mathis had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  Henry and Smith both had two singles each.  Rechtenbaugh and Stubbe each had a double and two RBIs.  Pankonen added a single and an RBI.  Fersdahl ended with an RBI.  D. Eastman pitched three innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Tad Tjaden pitched two innings allowing three runs, none of them earned, on three walks with three strikeouts.
