The Dell Rapids high school baseball team won their final regular season game, 9-2, against Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery in Alexandria on Wednesday, May 13th.
Lincoln LeBrun scored on an error in the top of the second inning to break the 0-0 tie. Tommy LaVoy followed with an RBI double and then scored on an error to give Dell Rapids a 3-0 lead. Jackson Peppel added an RBI ground out in the top of the fourth inning. Drake Eastman followed with an RBI triple, Gauge Bunkers had an RBI single, and then Kenny Swanson had an RBI triple to extend the lead to 7-0.
Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery scored a run on an error in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 7-1. Peppel would score on an error for Dell Rapids in the top of the sixth, and AJ Brandenburg had an RBI fly out to extend the lead to 9-1. Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery added just one more run in the top of the seventh.
Eastman had two hits, one a triple, and an RBI. Jake Heinitz also had two hits. Swanson finished with a triple and an RBI. LaVoy had a double with an RBI. Bunkers ended with a single and an RBI. Peppel and Brandenburg each had one RBI. Joe Trumbauer pitched five innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and two walks with four strikeouts. Charlie Bollock pitched two innings and allowed an earned run on three hits with one strikeout.
Dell Rapids ends the regular season with a 22-2 record. They will play in regions on Tuesday, May 19th.
