The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team won two home games on Sunday, April 23rd. Both Tri-Valley and Baltic visited Dell Rapids on Sunday afternoon.
Dell Rapids 10, Tri-Valley 1
Dell Rapids built an early 3-0 lead and kept rolling from there. They got a run in the bottom of the first and then added two more in the second. Tri-Valley picked up a run in the top of the third, but Dell Rapids responded with a run in the third, five in the fourth, and one more in the sixth. Dell Rapids had a total of seven hits and took advantage of five Tri-Valley errors.
Will Jaton and Drake Eastman both had a single and two RBIs. Jack Henry, Mason Stubbe, and Sutton Williams all had a single and an RBI. Brayden Pankonen and Treyse Eastman both had a hit as well. Joe Rechtenbaugh pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed an earned run on one hit and six walks with seven strikeout. Konrad Richeal pitched three innings allowing just a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. D. Eastman pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out one batter.
Dell Rapids 11, Baltic 2
Dell Rapids trailed after two and a half innings, but used a big bottom of the third to get the 11-2 win over Baltic. Baltic scored a run right away in the top of the first with Dell Rapids matching a run in the bottom of the inning. After a scoreless second inning, Baltic got a run in the top of third for a 2-1 lead. Dell Rapids exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third and then added two more in the fourth to earn the victory.
Rechtenbaugh finished with two hits and two RBIs. Henry had a double and an RBI in the game. D. Eastman and Jaton both had a single and an RBI. CJ Smith had two singles. Lincoln Fersdahl also had a hit. Pankonen added two RBIs. Henry pitched four innings allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits and walk with eight strikeouts. Pankonen pitched three innings allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.
