The #1 seed Dell Rapids PBR cruised to a 14-2 win over the Salem Cubs in the opening round of the District 4B Tournament in Humboldt.
Dell Rapids scored two runs in the bottom of the first. They got another run in the bottom of the third. PBR kept things rolling with a three-run fourth and four-run fifth for a 10-0 lead. Salem scored two times in the top of the sixth, but PBR added four more in the bottom of the inning for a 14-2 score. The game ended on the 10-run rule after the top of the seventh.
Jake Brandenburg had four hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Drew Sweeter had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Zach Puetz had two hits and two RBIs. Lincoln Fersdahl and Brayden Pankonen each had two singles. Tad Tjaden added a single with two RBIs. Tanner Solberg had a hit with an RBI, and Riley Hoffman had an RBI.
Brett Mogen pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Solberg tossed two innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and three walks.
