The Dell Rapids Mudcats ended the 2026 regular season with two wins to finish 13-5 overall. They defeated the Salem Cubs on Thursday, July 16th and then got a win over the Flandreau Cardinals on Sunday, July 19th.
Mudcats 12, Salem 10
Jake Goble hit a game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Dell Rapids a 12-10 win over Salem. Salem scored five times in the top of the first inning. The Mudcats got two runs back. Each team scored a run in the third inning. The Cubs scored another three runs in the top of the fourth for a 9-3 lead. The Mudcats chipped away at the lead. They got a run in the bottom of the fourth, a run in the fifth, and three more in the sixth to make the score 9-8. Salem added one more run in the top of the eighth inning. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Goble sent the ball over the left field fence to win the game.
Austin Henry had four hits, including a double and home run, with an RBI. Billy Stitz had three singles. Goble finisehd with two hits, one a home run, and four RBIs. Josh Roemen added two doubles with an RBI. Landon Ruesink and Carter Gullickson each had a single and two RBIs. Nolan Burchill had a single with an RBI. Grant Olson and Reece Arbogast both had a double. Dan Gacke and Noah Nielson both had a single.
Mudcats 11, Flandreau Cardinals 3
The final game of the regular season was a much smoother ride for the Mudcats. They scored a run in the top of the first, four in the third, and three in the top of the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. Flandreau picked up three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Mudcats would add two runs in the top of the sixth and one more in the top of the seventh.
Henry had four hits, two of them doubles, and three RBIs. Kason Syverson had a single, double, and home run with five RBIs. Gullickson added two singles. Goble had a single with an RBI. Arbogast and Treyse Eastman both had a single. Henry pitched four innings and allowed three hits with seven strikeouts. Syverson tossed three innings and allowed three earned runs on a hit with four walks with three strikeouts.
