Dell Rapids PBR picked up two more wins in their last two games. They defeated Salem on Thursday, July 9th and Baltic on Sunday, July 12th.
PBR 8, Salem 2
After four scoreless innings, PBR broke through with two runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Cubs got one run back in the bottom of the fifth. PBR added three more runs in the sixth inning, while Salem only scored one, giving PBR a 5-2 lead. Dell Rapids was able to get another run in the eighth and two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth for the win.
Chris Kropuenske had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Lincoln Fersdahl had a double and two RBIs. Jake Brandenburg and Conner Spindler both ended with a hit and an RBI. Drew Sweeter, Zach Puetz, Riley Calhoon, and Brayden Pankonen all had one hit each. Riley Hoffman and Weston Hansen each had an RBI.
PBR 7, Baltic 5
Dell Rapids PBR held off a late rally by the River Dawgs for a win on Sunday. PBR scored single runs in the first three innings for a 3-0 lead. They added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 6-0. Baltic rallied for five runs in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 6-5. PBR would get another run in the bottom of the eighth and then hold Baltic scoreless in the ninth.
Pankonen had three hits, one of them a double. Puetz had two hits and two RBIs. Sweeter had a hit and two RBIs. Spindler also had a hit and an RBI. CJ Smith and Tad Tjaden each had a single. Hansen added an RBI. Trey Randel pitched seven innings allowing six hits and three walks with eight strikeouts to earn the win.
