The Dell Rapids Mudcats picked up two more victories in their last two games to run their winning streak to five. They defeated Madison on Thursday, July 9th and also defeated Flandreau Blue Teal on Sunday, July 12th.
Dell Rapids Mudcats 17, Madison 1
The Mudcats cruised to a home win against Madison. They put three runs on the board right away in the bottom of the first inning. Five more runs came home in the bottom of the third for an 8-0 lead. Madison scored a run in the top of the fifth, but Dell Rapids added seven more in the bottom of the inning. The game ended on the 15-run rule in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run by Austin Henry.
Kason Syverson had three hits and three RBIs. Treyse Eastman had two singles and four RBIs. Henry had a double and home run with three RBIs. Noah Burchill had a single and double with an RBI. Carter Gullickson added two hits with an RBI. Billy Stitz had a double and four RBIs. Thomas Schuring also had a single. Henry pitched six innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.
Dell Rapids Mudcats 15, Flandreau Blue Teal 9
The Mudcats needed extra innings, and they put a big number on the board in the 10th inning to secure a 15-9 road victory on Sunday. Flandreau scored the first two runs of the game. They got a run in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings for a 2-0 lead. Dell Rapids scored the next five runs. The Mudcats put three on the board in the top of the fifth and two more in the sixth for a 5-2 score.
Flandreau got a run back in the bottom of the seventh. The Mudcats looked to be heading to an easy victory. They added two runs in the top of the eighth and another in the ninth for an 8-3 lead. The Blue Teal, however, rallied for five runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 8-8. The Mudcats would not let Flandreau take the momentum. They responded with seven runs in the top of the 10th inning. Flandreau scored just one time in the bottom of the inning.
Ty Hoglund had a home run and two doubles with four RBIs. Gullickson had a home run, double, and single with three RBIs. Burchill also had three hits with an RBI. Stitz had two hits, one a home run, and four RBIs. Noah Nielson added two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Henry and Schuring each had one hit.
