The Dell Rapids Mudcats cruised to a 16-1, no-hit road win over the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks in Humboldt on Tuesday, July 7th.
The bats were hot right away for the Mudcats. They scored six times in the top of the first inning. The Mudcats scored two more times in the top of the second and four more in the top of the third for a 12-0 lead. The Wood Ducks scored their only run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third. Dell Rapids tacked on another run in the top of the fourth and three more in the fifth. The game ended on the 15-run rule after the fifth inning.
Austin Henry had four hits and two RBIs. Carter Gullickson had three hits and three RBIs. Noah Nielson also had three hits with two RBIs. Kason Syverson added two hits and two RBIs. Ty Hoglund ended with two hits. Nolan Burchill had a hit and an RBI. Landon Ruesink had a single, and Dan Gacke had two RBIs.
Syverson pitched all five innings and allowed an unearned run on no hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
