The Dell Rapids high school baseball team took another win at home on Wednesday, April 22nd. They earned an 11-1 win over Parkston.
The first two innings were key for Dell Rapids. Kenny Swanson had a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning. Gauge Bunkers drove home another run, and Jake Heinitz had an RBI single to put Dell Rapids ahead 4-0. Jackson Peppel added a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. Bunkers and Tommy LaVoy each drew a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead to 8-0 after two innings.
Parkston scored their lone run in the top of the fifth inning. Dell Rapids got the run back in the bottom of the inning. LaVoy hti an RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth, and Carson Maeschen had an RBI single to end the game on the 10-run rule, 11-1.
Peppel had two hits, one a home run, and two RBIs. LaVoy finished with a triple and two RBIs. Swanson and Bunkers each had a double with two RBIs. Heinitz and Maeschen each added a single and an RBI. Connor Hanson had a single. Bunkers pitched four innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Drake Eastman threw two innings and allowed a hit and walk with four strikeouts.
