The Dell Rapids 14U baseball team ended their regular season with two more wins on Wednesday, July 5th and Friday, July 7th. They finished the season with a 14-2 record.
Dell Rapids 3, West Central Blue 1
Each team scored a run in the second inning, and Dell Rapids was able to break the tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jackson Peppel and Gage Bunkers each had an RBI single to put Dell Rapids ahead and win the game.
Peppel, Bunkers, and Andrew Schoeberl all had a single and an RBI. Jake Heinitz had two hits, including a double. Thomas LaVoy also had two hits. Eli Gullickson and Kaiden Zellmer each had a single. Gullickson pitched four innings and allowed an earned run on a walk with three strikeouts. Bunkers pitched three innings and allowed a walk with three strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 9, Flandreau 6
Dell Rapids was able to break a couple of ties early in the game to take a 9-6 win over Flandreau. The first two runs were scored by Dell Rapids in the bottom of the first. Flandreau tied the game with two in the top of the second. Dell Rapids regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the second. Flandreau again tied the game with a run in the top of the third. Dell Rapids went ahead for good with two runs in the bottom of the third, three in the fourth, and one more in the sixth for a 9-3 lead. Flandreau got three runs in the top of the seventh.
Bunkers had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Peppel also had two hits and two RBIs. Zellmer finished with two singles and an RBI. Heinitz, Hayden Hansen, and Schoeberl all had a single and an RBI. LaVoy, Gullickson, and Rhett Thoreson each had a hit. Magnus Narigon added an RBI. Thoreson pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed a hit and walk with four strikeouts. Peppel pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits with three strikeouts. Schoeberl allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits. Bunkers pitched an inning and struck out one.
