The Dell Rapids Jr Legion suffered a 17-6 loss to Madison in the opening round of the Region 2B Tournament at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls on Monday, July 27th.
Madison scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Haiden Kaffar hit an RBI triple, and Dawson Bunkers scored on an error in the bottom of the inning to pull Dell Rapids within one, 3-2. Madison scored two more runs in the top of the second and another two in the top of the third to extend their lead to 7-2.
Caiden Borns had an RBI single and then scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead down to 7-4. Madison had a big seven run top of the sixth to make the score 14-4. Dell Rapids kept the game going with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Madison added three more in the top of the seventh.
AJ Brandenburg finished with three singles. Borns had two singles with two RBIs. Owen Bollock had a double and single with an RBI. Rhett Thoreson had two hits. Kaffar ended with a triple and an RBI. Cutler Erickson also had a hit.
Dell Rapids will play Garretson in an elimination game on Tuesday, July 28th.
