Quarrier Girls Drop Back and Forth Game to Madison

The Madison Bulldogs took a 50-46 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers in a back-and-forth game in Dell Rapids on Saturday, January 7th.

Madison delivered the first blow and started the game on an 11-0 run.  The Bulldogs ended the first quarter leading 15-6.  Dell Rapids flipped the script in the second quarter and outscored Madison 14-4 to take a 20-19 lead into halftime.  The two teams ended the third quarter tied 29-29.

Dell Rapids built a five-point lead, 39-34, early in the fourth quarter.  They continued to lead 42-38, but that’s when Madison made another run.  The Bulldogs went on a 9-2 run for a 47-44 lead.  The Quarriers pulled within a point at 47-46 with :22 left but couldn’t complete the comeback.

The Quarriers shot 29% (18-62) from the field, went 0-17 from three-point area, and 56% (10-18) from the free-throw line.  Madison was 45% (17-38) shooting, 30% (3-10) on three-pointers, and 56% (13-23) from the free-throw line.

Liz Price had 19 points and 13 rebounds.  Jenna Miller finished with 16 points, two rebounds, two steals, and two assists.  Elly Olson finished with seven points and eight rebounds.

JV Results

The Quarriers JV basketball team lost a hard fought contest against a scrappy Madison Bulldog JV team Saturday afternoon by a score of 18-21.  The young Quarriers hit some big shots in the final minutes to put them in a position to tie the game, but with the ball were unable to get a final shot off.

Kassy Stykel had seven points and five steals.  Peyton Hohn had four points, four rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.  May DeStigter added two points and three rebounds.  Keilah Kremer and Adah Cavigielli both had two points and two rebounds each.  Taylor Schmidt finished with a point and four rebounds.
