Quarrier Volleyball Rolls Past Elk Point-Jefferson

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team cruised to a home win over the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Tuesday, September 1st.  Dell Rapids won by scores of 25-8, 25-18, and 25-16.

Elk Point-Jefferson opened the first set with a 4-0 run.  It was all Dell Rapids after that.  The Quarriers went on an 8-0 run to take an 8-4 lead and cruised to there.  They finished the set on a 17-4 for the 25-8 win. 

Dell Rapids kept that momentum going to start the second set.  They started with a 6-1 run.  After the Quarriers pushed the lead to 15-8, the Huskies got within three points, 15-12.  That was as close as they would get.  Dell Rapids went on a 5-1 run to push the lead back to seven, 20-13.  Each team scored five more points each as Dell Rapids won 25-18.

The Quarriers started the third set with a 4-3 lead and then scored the next four points in a row to make the score 8-3.  Their lead grew to eight points, 15-7.  They would continue to lead by eight points at 20-12 before finishing the set, and match, with a 25-16 victory.

Tenley Anderson led the team with 31 set assists and also had six digs and two kills.  Madelynn Henry finished with 16 kills and four digs.  Sylea Sykes added eight kills, nine digs, and two ace serves.  Josie Price had six kills.  Alaina Wolff ended with 15 digs.  Tenley Witzel had six digs and three kills.
