The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team made the cross-state trip to Belle Fourche on Friday, September 4th. The Quarriers returned home with a 36-8 victory to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Dell Rapids scored all of their points in the first half. Jace Brende had two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. He had a 55-yard run and a five-yard run for scores. Connor Jones made both extra points to give the Quarriers a 14-0 lead.
Hayden Hansen connected with Cooper Cuny on an 81-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Dell Rapids made the two-point conversion to increase the lead to 22-0. Brende scored his third rushing touchdown from three yards away later in the quarter. Hansen and Cuny connected again before halftime, this time on a 31-yard touchdown pass, to put Dell Rapids ahead 36-0. Belle Fourche got an eight-yard touchdown run with a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
Dell Rapids finished with 366 yards of total offense, 231 rushing yards and 135 passing yards. Belle Fourche had 245 yards of offense, 121 rushing yards and 124 passing yards. Hansen was 3-3 passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Cuny had two catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Brende had six carries for 89 yards and three touchdowns. Jackson Peppel added eight carries for 77 yards. Breck Evans had five tackles in the game, four for loss and three of them sacks.
