Tri-Valley Maroon 14U Crushes Dell Rapids Navy

Tri-Valley Maroon 14U scored 18 unanswered runs in the middle innings of an 18-8 win over Dell Rapids Navy in Dell Rapids on Wednesday, June 29th.

Dell Rapids scored the first four runs in the bottom of the first, but it was all Tri-Valley for the next three innings.  They scored three runs in the top of the second, five in the third, and then had a big 10-run fourth inning to lead 18-4.  Dell Rapids scored four times in the bottom of the fifth, but Tri-Valley stopped the rally to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Nine different Tri-Valley players got a hit in the game.  Gage Egger had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.  Owen Bunde had three hits and an RBI.  Treyson Richer, Parker Atwood, and Parker Hemme all had two hits and three RBIs.  Mason Hemme finished with two hits, one a triple, and two RBIs.  Kaiden Bernards added a triple and RBI.  Dylan Christensen and Tristen Bunde both had a single.  Denton Bicknase pitched all five innings and allowed eight runs, three earned, on 10 hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Early Runs for Tea Gold Leads to Win over Dell Rapids 16U

Tea Gold took the lead in the bottom of the first and led the whole rest of the game in a 14-4 win over Dell Rapids 16U on Tuesday, June 28th.

Dell Rapids got two runs right away in the top of the first.  Tad Tjaden scored on an error, and Sutton Williams drew a bases-loaded walk for an early 2-0 lead.  Tea, however, scored four times in the bottom of the first.  The score was still 4-2 through three innings of play.

Tea then had a six-run bottom of the fourth to push the lead to 10-2.  Dell Rapids got another two runs in the top of the fifth.  Micah Pickard had an RBI triple, and Luke Schoolmeester followed with an RBI single.  Tea added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Pickard had a triple and an RBI.  Schoolmeester also had a hit and an RBI.  Williams finished with an RBI.  Cole Ruesink and Mason Stubbe both had a single.  Quinn Carr pitched three innings and allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.  Talan Millage pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed two unearned runs on three hits with a strikeout.  Stubbe pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed four earned runs on a hit and three walks.  Konrad Richeal allowed four earned runs on a hit and five walks.

Tri-Valley 16U Blasts Parker

Tri-Valley 16U banged out 11 hits and routed Parker 17-2 in four innings on Tuesday, June 28th.

Seven different players collected hits for Tri-Valley.  Everett Althoff led the attack with a double and triple and five RBIs.  Carter Sorenson had two hits, one a triple, and three RBIs.  Holden Rise also had two hits and three RBIs.  Levi Kretzschmar had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Benjamin Myhre and Ledger Burggraff both had a hit and an RBI.  Javier Mendoza also added a hit.  Mayson Rise and Hunter Foster each had an RBI.

Althoff also pitched all four innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Tri-Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the first, six in the second, and eight in the third inning.  Parker got a single run in the second and third innings.

Seven Run Inning Sparks Win for West Central Blue 14U over Tri-Valley White

West Central Blue 14U had a seven-run fifth inning that was key to a 12-8 win over Tri-Valley White on Tuesday, June 28th.

Nick Lorang had an RBI single in the top of the first for West Central.  Tri-Valley tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI ground out by Cooper Nielson. Gavin Dehaven scored on a passed ball in the top of the second.  Hayes Cain also scored on a passed ball in the top of the third, and Alex Siemonsma had an RBI ground out to give West Central a 4-1 lead.

Tri-Valley got two runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3.  Blaine Wiezoreck and Bracken Shapre both had RBI singles.  After Tri-Valley got the lead down to one, West Central then had their big seven-run fifth inning.  Jack Sebert scored on a passed ball.  Siemonsma had a two-run single.  Layne Bares and Taten VanOverbeke both had RBI singles, and then Sebert had a two run single to give West Central an 11-3 lead.

Tri-Valley got two runs on a single by Wiezoreck in the bottom of the fifth.  The score remained 11-5 heading into the seventh inning.  VanOverbeke scored on an error for West Central.  Tri-Valley got three runs in their half of the seventh.  Matthew Cypher scored on an error, Wiezoreck scored on a passed ball, and Landen Jensen had an RBI ground out.

Sebert had two hits and two RBIs for West Central.  Siemonsma had a hit and three RBIs.  Lorang, VanOverbeke, and Bares all had a hit and an RBI.  Zach Lorang had two hits.  Cain and Dehaven both had a single.  Siemonsma pitched five innings and allowed five runs, one earned, on six hits with six strikeouts.

Tri-Valley was led by Wiezoreck with three hits and two RBIs.  Nielson and Jensen both had a hit and an RBI.  Cypher had two hits.  Sullivan Snethen, Noah Eggert, and Sharpe all had a single.

West Central 16U Walks off Madison White

West Central scored three times in the bottom of the eighth to get walk-off, extra inning 6-5 win over Madison White on Tuesday, June 28th.

Madison scored a run right away in the top of the first.  West Central took the lead in the bottom of the second.  Brodie Herr had an RBI sacrifice fly, and Landen Holewa had an RBI single for a 2-1 lead.  They added another run in the bottom of the fourth.  Holewa reached on an error that also scored Cade Vanderwoude.

The score remained 3-1 until the seventh inning.  Madison scored two times and then held West Central scoreless to force extra innings.  Madison added another two runs in the top of the eighth for a 5-3 lead.

West Central loaded the bases with no one out on two walks and a single by Cain Grocott.  After a strikeout, Holewa drew a bases-loaded walk.  The next batter popped out, but the bases remained loaded with two outs.  Keaton Vessells then delivered a two-run line drive single to center field to win the game.

Vessells and Holewa both had a hit and two RBIs.  Grocott finished with two hits.  Rayce Whiting had a triple.  Will Nester and Jonathan Murray both had a single.  Herr added an RBI.  Herr pitched four innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Maison Schuldt pitched two innings and allowed one hit and four walks with three strikeouts.  Holewa pitched two innings and allowed four earned runs on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Hartford/Humboldt Legion Takes two from Sioux Falls Christian

Hartford/Humboldt legion hosted Sioux Falls Christian in a double-header on Tuesday, June 28th, winning both games.

Hartford/Humboldt 1, Sioux Falls Christian 0

A two-out, bases loaded single by Branden Herr drove home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 1-0 win.  The two teams combined for just nine hits in the game.  Besides Herr’s game-winning hit, Bennett Sebert, Gavin Koch, and Gage Nelson all had singles.

Derek Renken held Sioux Falls Christian to four hits in 6 1/3 innings pitched.  Renken walked only one and struck out 11 batters.  Koch pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed one hit with one strikeout.

Hartford/Humboldt 21, Sioux Falls Christian 0

The excitement and momentum from the win in game one carried into game two for Hartford/Humboldt.  The game only lasted four innings as Hartford/Humboldt scored 21 times on 19 hits.  They had five runs in the first, three in the second, and 13 more in the third.

Loren Jacobson had three hits, including a triple and double, and four RBIs.  Domo Chandaswang had three hits and three RBIs.  Both Koch and Nelson had three hits and an RBI.  Logan Maras finished with two hits and two RBIs.  Serbert had a triple and three RBIs.  Camden McDonald added a hit and two RBIs.  Both Renken and Herr had a double and an RBI each.  Connor Siemonsma also had a hit and an RBI.

Chandaswang pitched three innings and allowed a hit while striking out seven.  Adam Parsons pitched one inning and struck out all three batters.

Hartford/Humboldt Legion Drops Three in Tournament

The Hartford/Humboldt legion baseball team lost all three of their games at their legion baseball tournament Friday, June 24th and Saturday, June 25th.  Hartford/Humboldt lost games to Salem, Dakota Valley and Tabor.

Salem 5, Hartford/Humboldt 2

Salem got a come-from-behind win by scoring five times in the fifth inning for a 5-2 win on Friday.  Loren Jacobson had an RBI single in the bottom of the first for Hartford/Humboldt.    They added another run in the bottom of the fourth.  Logan Maras had an RBI single, and Hartford/Humboldt led 2-0 after four innings of play.  Salem then got their five runs in the fifth.

Jacobson and Maras both had a hit and an RBI.   Deuce Sherrard, Jack Linneman, and Braden Herr all had singles as well.  Owen Heath pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.  Gavin Koch pitched 2 1/3 innings of no hit baseball with three strikeouts.

Dakota Valley 11, Hartford/Humboldt 2

Dakota Valley never trailed in an 11-2 win on Saturday.  They scored two runs right away in the top of the first.  Bennett Sebert cut the lead in half with a solo home run in the bottom of the first.  Dakota Valley added two more runs in the top of the fourth.

The lead was again cut in half, 4-2, after Koch had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fifth.  Dakota Valley, however, got a run in the top of the sixth and then added six more in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Sebert had a home run and an RBI.  Jacobson had two hits, including a triple.  Koch added an RBI.  Andrew Zimmer pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.  Adam Parsons pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, two earned, on six hits with two strikeouts.

Tabor 10, Hartford/Humboldt 0

Hartford/Humboldt couldn’t get the offense rolling against Tabor as they were held to just two hits.  Tabor scored a run in the first, two in the second, six in the fourth, and one more in the fifth before the game ended on the 10-run rule after five innings.

Koch had a double, and Sharrard had a single for the only two hits in the game.  Koch pitched four innings and allowed nine runs, only one earned, on five hits and a walk with a strikeout.  Derek Renken pitched one inning and allowed an earned run on a hit with two strikeouts.

West Central 16U Finishes 2-1 at League Tournament

West Central 16U played three games at the I-29 League Tournament held in Madison Friday, June 24th and Saturday, June 25th.  The team finished 2-1 in the three games.

West Central 13, Tri-Valley 8

A seven-run inning for West Central in the bottom of the fifth inning was the difference in the game on Friday against Tri-Valley.

Will Nester, Keaton Vessells, and Carter Evans all had RBIs in the bottom of the first to give West Central a 3-0 lead.  Tri-Valley countered with four runs in the top of the second.  Jesse Jost had an inside the park home run in the bottom of the second to tie the game 4-4.

West Central then took the lead in the bottom of the third with two runs.  Evans and Cade Vanderwoude both had an RBI single to give West Central a 6-4 lead.  Tri-Valley retook the lead with four runs in the top of the fifth, but West Central scored seven times in the bottom of the fifth to take the win.

Vessells had three hits, two doubles, and three RBIs.  Evans also had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs.  Landen Holewa had two hits and two RBIs.  Jost had a home run and two RBIs.  Nester and Vanderwoude both had a single and an RBI.  Vessells pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs on four hits and five walks with seven strikeouts.  Nester pitched an inning and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits and three walks.

West Central 11, Tea Bolts 7

The middle innings were the difference against the Tea Bolts on Saturday.  Both teams scored two runs in the first inning.  West Central put four runs on the board in the top of the third inning only to see Tea respond with three runs.

The big blow for West Central game in the top of the fourth inning when they scored three times.  Holewa had an RBI ground out, and Nester followed with a two-run double to give West Central a 9-5 lead.  Both teams then scored two runs in the sixth inning.

Holewa had two hits and three RBIs.  Nester had a double with three RBIs.  Vanderwoude finished with two hits.  Evans and Cyrus Maras both had a single.  Vessells and Cain Grocott both had an RBI.  Maras pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.  Grocott pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed a hit and had a strikeout.

Tea Gold 20, West Central 6

Tea had two big innings, one of them in the second, to earn a 20-6 win on Saturday.  The first two runs of the game for Tea came in the top of the first.  West Central got one back in the bottom of the inning.  Tea, however, scored eight times in the second inning and added one more in the third for an 11-1 lead.

West Central got one run in the bottom of the fourth, but once again Tea had another big inning.  They scored nine times in the top of the fifth inning.  West Central finished with four runs in the bottom of the fifth before the game ended on the 10-run rule.

Nester had a hit and an RBI.  Evans had the only other hit for West Central.  Holewa added an RBI.  Vanderwoude pitched four innings and allowed 11 runs, eight earned, on 15 hits and two walks with a strikeout.  Grocott pitched an inning and allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk.  Holewa allowed seven runs, five earned, on a hit and a walk.

Dell Rapids Legion Wins Fourth Straight

Playing in their sixth game in four days, Dell Rapids won their fourth straight game with an 11-1 victory over Volga on Monday, June 27th.

Aiden Boechler scored the first run of the game on an error in the bottom of the second inning.  CJ Smith followed with an RBI ground out for an early 2-0 lead.  Dell Rapids added three more runs in the bottom of the third.  Mason Stubbe scored on an error, Landon Ruesink had an RBI triple, and Dylan Mathis added an RBI ground out to push the lead to 5-0.

Volga got their run in the top of the fourth inning, but Dell Rapids plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth, all with two outs.  Sutton Williams had a two run single. Ruesink had an RBI double.  Jack Henry brought home two with a single, and Mathis added an RBI triple in the inning.

Ruesink had a triple and double with two RBIs.  Mathis had a triple and two RBIs.  Henry and Williams both had a hit and two RBIs.  Stubbe had two doubles.  Brayden Pankonen and Joe Rechtenbaugh each had a single.  Smith finished with an RBI.

Pankonen pitched all five innings and allowed one earned run on six hits with two strikeouts.

Two Big Innings Sinks Colton Legion

Baltic had two big innings, but that was enough to defeat Colton 11-1 on Monday, June 27th.

The two teams were held scoreless through three innings of play.  Colton scored first in the top of the fourth inning.  Cole Focken had an RBI ground out scoring Riley Carlson to give Colton a 1-0 lead.  Baltic then scored five times in the bottom of the fourth.  They scored six times in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Carlson, Barrett Althoff, and Lawson Louiseau each had a single for the three hits in the game.  Focken had the RBI.  Carlson pitched five innings and allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts.  Connor Christensen pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed six runs, four earned, on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.
