The Hartford/Humboldt legion baseball team lost all three of their games at their legion baseball tournament Friday, June 24th and Saturday, June 25th. Hartford/Humboldt lost games to Salem, Dakota Valley and Tabor.
Salem 5, Hartford/Humboldt 2
Salem got a come-from-behind win by scoring five times in the fifth inning for a 5-2 win on Friday. Loren Jacobson had an RBI single in the bottom of the first for Hartford/Humboldt. They added another run in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Maras had an RBI single, and Hartford/Humboldt led 2-0 after four innings of play. Salem then got their five runs in the fifth.
Jacobson and Maras both had a hit and an RBI. Deuce Sherrard, Jack Linneman, and Braden Herr all had singles as well. Owen Heath pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Gavin Koch pitched 2 1/3 innings of no hit baseball with three strikeouts.
Dakota Valley 11, Hartford/Humboldt 2
Dakota Valley never trailed in an 11-2 win on Saturday. They scored two runs right away in the top of the first. Bennett Sebert cut the lead in half with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Dakota Valley added two more runs in the top of the fourth.
The lead was again cut in half, 4-2, after Koch had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fifth. Dakota Valley, however, got a run in the top of the sixth and then added six more in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Sebert had a home run and an RBI. Jacobson had two hits, including a triple. Koch added an RBI. Andrew Zimmer pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Adam Parsons pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, two earned, on six hits with two strikeouts.
Tabor 10, Hartford/Humboldt 0
Hartford/Humboldt couldn’t get the offense rolling against Tabor as they were held to just two hits. Tabor scored a run in the first, two in the second, six in the fourth, and one more in the fifth before the game ended on the 10-run rule after five innings.
Koch had a double, and Sharrard had a single for the only two hits in the game. Koch pitched four innings and allowed nine runs, only one earned, on five hits and a walk with a strikeout. Derek Renken pitched one inning and allowed an earned run on a hit with two strikeouts.
