The West Central Trojan track teams had a good day at the Vermillion Invite on Thursday, April 6th. The boys team finished second with 99 points. The girls team took third with 81 points. Both teams had several first place winners on the day.
Molli Thornton took the top spot in the 200m dash and long jump. The 4x200m relay team of Emma Goehring, Alexa Borns, Baylee Poss, and Thornton finished first. Goehring placed second in the 100m dash. The 4x100m relay team of Thornton, Rayna Goehring, Poss, and E. Goehring finished second. One sprint medley relay team of Tessa VanOverbeke, Borns, Clara Nelson, and Jazelle Jarding also finished second. Cambell Fischer took third in shot put. The 4x800m relay team of Brie Peters, Bailey Stallman, Cambree Ideker, and Aubrey Borns was third. Sadie Berg was fourth in the 200m dash and fifth in the 100m dash. Peters was fourth in the 1600m run. The 4x400m relay team of Poss, Nelson, Alexa Borns, and Maya Van Hyfte placed fourth. A second sprint medley relay team of Kadence Lupkes, Tehya Hoey, Kenasyn Johnson, and Hailey Goebel finished sixth. VanOverbeke was seventh in the high jump. R. Goehring took eighth in the 100m dash and 200m dash. Stallman was eighth in the 1600m run, and Nelson was eighth in the long jump.
Layton Johnson won both the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Carter Schmeichel won the long jump. The 4x200m relay team of Wyatt Nielsen, C. Schmeichel, Ryleee Hartung, and Mason Berens finished first. The 4x400m relay team of Nielsen, C. Schmeichel, Jude Jarding, and Johnson also took first place. Nielsen was second in the 200m dash. Benjamin Strunk was third in the 3200m run. Dylan Stromer placed third in the high jump and seventh in the 400m dash. Alex Lillefloren placed third in the discus. Liam Schmeichel finished third in both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles as well as sixth in the high jump. The 4x800m relay team of Stromer, Jarding, Strunk, and Jonathan Roth was fourth. The sprint medley relay team of Keven Cholopray, Gabe Gebhard, Patrick Hammond, and Hartung also took fourth. Roth has a sixth place finish in the 1600m run. Jarding was also sixth in the long jump. Hartung placed seventh in the 200m dash. Gavin DeHaven was seventh in the triple jump. Stone Loof placed eighth in the javelin.
