Wood Ducks Roll Past Four Corners in State Tournament Opener

The Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks opened up the 2026 South Dakota State B Amateur Baseball Tournament with a 13-2 win over Four Corners on Sunday, August 9th in Mitchell.

Over half of the runs for the Wood Ducks game in the final two innings.  Hartford/Humboldt broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third.  Four Corners cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.  It was all Wood Ducks from that point.   They pushed the score to 6-2 with three runs in the top of the fifth.  The Wood Ducks added three more runs in the top of the eighth and four more in the ninth.

CJ DenBoer had two hits and an RBI.  Brodie Herr had two singles.  Curtis Flint had a single with four RBIs.  Keaton Vessells added a triple with two RBIs.  Chad Hunt finished with a double and an RBI.  JJ Jesson had a single with an RBI.  Loren Jacobson and Camden McDonald each had a hit, while Brody Jacobson had an RBI.

Drew Eldeen pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Ben Honkomp tossed the final five innings and allowed two hits and two walk with five strikeouts.
