Wood Ducks Win Opening Round Game at State

The Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks won their opening round game at the State B Tournament in Mitchell over the Menno Mad Frogs on Thursday, August 9th.  The Wood Ducks used a four-run inning to get the 4-2 win.

Menno took the lead right away in the bottom of the first inning, 1-0.  The score remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth inning.  Braden Herr had an RBI single, Brayden Odegaard added a two-run double, and Brodie Herr had an RBI single to give the Wood Ducks a 4-1 lead.  They remained in front 4-1 until the bottom of the ninth.  Menno got a two-out run on an error, but a ground out ended the game.

Braden Herr had three hits and an RBI.  Odegaard had a double with two RBIs.  Brodie Herr had a single and an RBI.  Austin King, Dawson Bakker, and Camden McDonald all had one hit each.  Logan Larsen pitched a complete game allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts.
